Glasgow is Scotland's largest city. It is on the west coast and has become famous for its art and culture, as well as its shopping.

Glasgow is famously the cultural home of architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh. His admirers will relish a visit to the Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art on Royal Exchange Square or the Glasgow School of Art and The House for Art Lovers, which he and his wife Margaret Macdonald designed.
There is a wealth of museums and art galleries to interest the visitor, such as the Hunterian on University Avenue, the Burrell Collection in the Pollok Estate and Country Park and the Kelvingrove (the most visited museum in the UK outside London). Many of these are free admission and open all year round.

And if you fancy some fresh air in the city, you can visit one of the many parks, such as Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow Green, Bellahouston Park or Pollok Country Park.

Of course, the shopping is excellent in Glasgow. It claims to be the best retail centre the UK, outside of London! The shopping areas are mainly around Buchanan Street, Argyle Street and Sauciehall Street. And there is a first class cafe culture here for those welcome pit stops between shops.

Glasgow's nightlife is legendary and it is justly proud of its pubs and clubs. Nightspots are mainly around the West End, Merchant City and Ashton Lane.
