The east of George Square is taken up with the Glasgow City Chambers, while around the other sides are Queen Street Station, the General Post Office, the Tourist Information Centre and the Chambers of Commerce Building.
There is a Cenotaph here, built to remember the Glaswegians who died in the first World War. Apart from Sir Walter Scott, other statues are include: Queen Victoria and prince Albert, Robert Burns, Thomas Campbell, James Watt, Gladstone, Peel and others.
